This in-depth training course, is based around the Derbyshire Language Scheme intervention programme that focusses on Information Carrying Words (ICWs). These are the words that carry the meaning within a sentence and need to be understood in order for a child to follow the instruction.
This session focusses on how instructions can be differentiated to allow all of the children in the classroom to access the information being shared in addition to developing practical activities to extend the number information carrying words that our children with SLCN are able to follow. These strategies will also assist those children learning English as an additional language.
*This is particularly suitable for Early Years Practitioners but can be applied to children across Key Stage 1 who are showing delays in language development.
